Sometimes you don't have to travel far and wide for a beautiful destination wedding. The Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania are an easy trip from anywhere in the Northeastern United States, and a lovely four season location for your wedding.Because the mountains are a hot spot for tourism, there are plenty of activities to entertain your guests for a whole weekend or longer. You'll find lakes for fishing and boating, scenic hikes, and golf courses, not to mention all the activities available at the dozens of resort locations in the mountains.
I attended a wedding here last summer, where the couple arranged a hike for the guests at the aptly named Bridal Veil Falls the morning of the ceremony. That evening, the mountains provided a gorgeous backdrop for a beautiful ceremony, and, as they say, a good time was had by all.

We are planning to marry in the Pocono’s this summer 08'. We are looking for a place where we can have full control of catering and drinks (since its an ethnic wedding) so far the beautiful resorts that we have been looking at are not willing to let us have outside catering even though we plan to order some American food as well and no control of the alcohol. We are also entertaining of having the wedding in a tent, but where? Please help if anyone has an idea....
This is something you'll run into when you plan a resort or destination wedding. Their packages are the whole deal and they don't want you bringing in anything outside. A tent is a good idea -- ask the resorts about nearby parks. The wedding I attended at Pocmont resort had a BBQ the day before in a field, and we brought all our own food. Maybe you could start there.
