Here's an etiquette news flash for you! (Who knew there could be such things?) Did you know that you don't HAVE to send out RSVP cards with the invitation?

Really! The onus for replying to an invitation is with the guest. They have your phone number, they have your return address, they have an invitation. They can put two and two together.

Thing is, they probably won't. RSVP cards have become so traditional that they'll assume a mistake has been made. They'll go hunting through the papers for the card, and when they don't find it, a significant number won't know what to do next. Your mother and your maid of honour will be fielding confused phone calls for weeks. Those who don't think it was a mistake will think you're merely being cheap.

So, yeah, you put them in. Of course. I wasn't really suggesting you shouldn't. But it's kind of cool to find a rule of etiquette that reduces your obligations instead of increasing them!
