Bride's emergency kit: Everything you can image, and the kitchen sink, too
Filed under: Do-It-Yourself, Grooms
I have two small children, so I understand the concept of Be Prepared. At any given moment, I have hand wipes and tissues and band aids in my bag, because you just never know what might happen. On your wedding day, you REALLY want to be prepared, because you want everything to go smoothly. So the Wedding Day Emergency Kit lists at WhatHappensNow.com seem like a terrific idea: printable lists, for the bride and groom, of everything you might possibly need on your big day.
What the lists fail to point out is that you will need a steamer trunk to carry all that stuff around.
The lists are loaded with practical tips, like stashing spot remover and a sewing kit, but they also include some more questionable suggestions (duct tape? seriously?) and some things that I don't think the bride and groom should be responsible for (extra copies of directions to the reception -- not your job if you're the one saying the I do's).
Instead of hauling the entire contents of your bathroom cabinet with you to the festivities, pack only those things that are specific to you (your makeup, the rings) and talk with the concierge or facilities manager at the reception site about providing the rest. Keep your emergency supplies to a minimum.

You would be amazed at what duct tape can do. Someone steps on your train & rips the hem??? No problem duct tape it from the underside and noone is the wiser....same with pant hems.... I to say keep it lite though...you really don't need another thing on your to do list that day. Assemble a kit & assign a bridesmaid or someone else to be responsible for it.
