In case you're not familiar with the African-American custom of jumping the broom, check out my recent post. It's a wonderful way to celebrate culture and show pride in passed down traditions.

When it comes to wedding favors that help tie those cultural traditions, I found one that can meet the budget demands of just about any bride. Not only that, you can be as creative as you like.

Several sites, like this one, offer a variety of mini-brooms (remember how much I love mini items?) that come either decorated or plain for your creative enjoyment. When I made my own favor boxes, sure it was more time-consuming, but it was also a great way to share my love and appreciation with my guests.

Decorating mini-brooms either on your own or with family and friends is something you just can't get from already decorated favors. However, if time is an issue or you feel you lack craftiness, you can find decorated favors for reasonable prices.

If you decide to get them undecorated, you purchase brooms anywhere from $.40 to $.70 each. Get a hot-glue gun, some ribbon, and maybe some dried flowers and you're set. I also like the idea of using the mini-brooms as placeholders (see photo).
