In today's Dear Abby column, a groom-to-be asks the advice columnist for ideas to honor his fiance's deceased mother in their ceremony.

This is a sweet thought, and will likely be a very special memory from the couple's wedding day. The trouble is drawing the line between tasteful and tacky. Too much talk of death in a wedding ceremony can kill the joyful mood, but being too jolly while trying to honor the deceased would also be inappropriate.

Dear Abby suggests lighting a candle in honor of the bride's mother, and having the officiant offer a blessing or other sort of explanation while the couple lights the candle to highlight its significance. Other ways to honor the deceased could be having a nice framed photo of them near the altar, or a message in the programs.

Will you be honoring your loved ones who are no longer with you at your ceremony? If so, how will you be doing it?
