When I heard a bride complaining that she was having a hard time deciding on a circlet for her wedding, I didn't know what she was talking about. I figured it was another new thing the bridal industry had created to get brides to fork over more money, and pretty soon everyone would be adding circlets to their must-have list -- whatever they are. When I looked it up, though, I learned that circlets are not new at all -- they are Celtic and Renaissance inspired headpieces worn on the forehead. Common in medieval-themed weddings, circlets can be jeweled or plain, and may come in silver, gold, or other metals and colors. Check out the gallery below for various styles.
I think they are lovely (I definitely prefer this look to a tiara, which is a bit pretentious for my tastes), but I'm not sure I'd be able to adjust to wearing a heavy piece of metal on my forehead -- I don't even like it when my bangs rest there.
