A librarian friend decided to throw a shower for a co-worker. With the host, the guest of honor and a good chunk of the invited guests being library workers, it was no surprise when they decided to throw her a "library shower".If you're not a book person you might wonder what you could possibly bring as a gift. Besides books, that is. A library shower starts with books, of course. If you can, try to check out their home library. Note topics, interests, authors. Hunt up some nicely bound hardback editions of their favorite authors. It doesn't matter if it's a duplicate of a paperback they already own. Home libraries are filled with paperbacks because they're cheap, but every book-lover adores a gorgeous leather-bound book.
Though gifts for a library shower start with books, they needn't end there. There are all sorts of book accessories: book shelves in every size, bookends, book marks, book holders, lap desks. Book plates, customized with the bride and groom's names, are a personal and appropriate touch. You could get them a membership to a book club that reflects their interests.
Hmmm... is seven months after a wedding too late to have a shower?

This would have been the PERFECT shower for me - I wish I'd known about it last fall! It's probably not for everyone, but for some, it would be a wonderful idea.
I want one of these!!!!
