Up until about fifteen minutes ago, I thought I had six months until my wedding day. Then I did that frantic count on my hands, the one I do when I know I'm this close to deadline and trying to find extra time -- "December to January is one month, January to February is two ..." until it became quite clear that May 18th, 2008 is a mere five months away.

Five months away.

I have an arsenal of bridal magazines. I have a vast base of knowledge at my disposal, both from friends and family and here in the Aisledash posts. And I have enough organizational skills to make anything go off without a hitch.

My biggest problem is that I don't have time to plan my wedding.

My career is very demanding, as a full-time editor for a health media company and a diabetes blogger. I also make good use of my gym membership, working out at least one hour, five days a week. And while I work in the chaos of the western CT suburbs, my family is in RI, so I travel often on the weekends. This leaves little time for wedding planning (yet somehow I have plenty of time to panic).

So today, five months from my wedding day, I'm taking stock of what's been accomplished. My fiance and I have booked our reception hall. We have the church reserved. Deposits have been sent to a photographer, a DJ, and my wedding gown will be delivered in three weeks. Bridesmaid dresses have been ordered, and my fiance has an idea of where he needs to go for his tux.

But with everything we've done already, there's still a ton left to do. Reserving limos. Figuring out favors. The God forsaken seating chart. Our honeymoon. The flower girl's dress. Flowers. Invitations. Hair appointments. Bridal party gifts. Hotel for our wedding night. Shoes? Rings?

I'm in over my head.

For the next five months (where did that other month go??!!), I will be chronicling my wedding adventures here on Aisledash as they happen -- your Real-Time Bride. Maybe checking in with you guys will help keep me on track.

Whatever the case, I need to stay on the proverbial ball. And keep myself from being squished by it. ;)
