I have, at my insistence, an all-sapphire engagement ring. What's more, they're lab created sapphires (my husband was broke when we got married!). Despite my extremely hard wearing (I cook/bake a lot, I have three energetic boys, and I'm an enormous clutz), after six years, it's still just as sparkly and perfect as the day I received it! I'd definitely suggest sapphires as engagement rings, I'm thoroughly happy with mine and it always looks unusual and lovely in photos.
