Most celebrity weddings, despite the best efforts of the press and paparazzi, are still private affairs; we don't often get to see the actual moment of the marriage, when the couple exchange their vows and plight their troth. But in February of 1981, some 28 million television viewers around the world tuned in for the wedding of nineteen-year-old Diana Spencer to thirty-two-year-old Charles, Prince of Wales.

Diana arrived at St. Paul's Cathedral in London in a glass carriage, with her twenty-some feet of train and veil billowing behind her. And while we now look at her dress and wonder whatever made her choose that fluffy, froofy thing, at the time we were all taken by how much she looked like a perfect princess.

Diana and Charles divorced in 1996; Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997. In April of 2005, Charles remarried, to long-time love Camilla Parker-Bowles.
