Jackie Bouvier met John Kennedy in 1948; at the time, though, she was engaged to someone else. The two continued to run into each other at social functions, and in 1952, the two began dating. Her family was not particularly pleased with the relationship, primarily because Kennedy was something of a playboy and man-about-town, and was always in the papers. The Bouviers were more retired, private people.

Jackie and John were married in September of 1953, in Newport, Rhode Island; there were nearly 2,000 guests at the reception. They were married for ten years, until then-President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. They had four children, including a daughter who was still born.

Jackie Kennedy died in May of 1994.
