We have all, at some time or other, turned up our noses at the extravagance of someone else's wedding. We have speculated about the cost of the dress and the dinner and the bar bill; we have dished with bridesmaids about the price of their dresses and shoes. But there is also, in most of us, at least a small desire to have our wedding day be one on which cost really is no object, when we can surround ourselves in luxury. Most of us can't really do that, but we CAN read about it. The March issue of Vogue magazine (on newsstands now) has a lush, dreamy spread on the January wedding of socialite and Vogue employee Lauren Davis and Andres Santo Domingo. The photographs alone are worth the purchase price of the magazine, even if you have no idea who Lauren Davis is.
(I certainly didn't. Still don't, really.)
Most amazing is Davis' wedding gown, which was created for her by Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci. The gown, made from 60 meters of silk jacquard, took the staff at Nina Ricci 1,200 hours to make.
Imagine that.
You can see the entire Vogue spread at Team Sugar, but really, buy the magazine and revel in Davis' perfect day. And while you probably can't have that gown, you can certainly take some tips from her about how to engineer the perfect socialite wedding.
