Get legally ordained online to perform weddings
Filed under: Alternative Weddings, Ceremonies, Wedding party
For the purposes of law, it is really difficult to define "religion." The American government's definition is fairly loose, which is why it is surprisingly easy to become a legally ordained minister. Without any training, education, professions of faith, or even any money, you can apply for ordination online through the Universal Life Church.Someone must review your application, but as long as you provide legitimate information, you will receive your credentials in just a matter of days. You are then legally permitted to perform weddings and other religious ceremonies, provided that you follow state laws as well.
This is a great way to include friends in your wedding, especially if you do not have a relationship with any clergy. Ask someone close to you to apply with the ULC and then perform your wedding ceremony.
