She's bubbly, she's cute, she's bouncy and she's funny. Goldie Hawn, at 62, is still as sexy and as adorable as she was when she teamed up with partner Kurt Russell 25 years ago. It's easy to see why the couple are still together, even though they have not tied the knot and have no intention of doing so.

During a frank interview on the BBC's Friday Night with Jonathon Ross last week, Goldie explained why her relationship with Kurt Russell is so good and why she prefers being unmarried.

"I wake up every day knowing I can walk out at any moment", she said. "It [that knowledge] that keeps things fresh."

She may have a point. It's not uncommon for long-term relationships to disintegrate once marriage vows have been exchanged. There's something about a marriage certificate that seems to sound the death knell for many couples.

The actress went on to say that she believes that what keeps relationships, and marriages, together is the intention to make it work. "Make time for each, play together, stay sexy", she advised, also admitting that she makes an effort to spice up her sex life by dressing up in outfits for Kurt. Refusing to be drawn on exactly what type of outfit she dons, Goldie's naughty giggles left us in no doubt that she and Kurt still share a sizzling sex life.

"Once sex goes out of a relationship, you have to decide whether to stay together as friends, or breakup, because sex is important", said Goldie.

It hasn't been plain sailing for the couple, with numerous rumours in the past of a split. "There are times I want to kill Kurt", she admitted. But then, who doesn't have moments of exasperation with a spouse? Despite those sticky patches, last week Goldie and Kurt celebrated 25 years of non-marriage during a trip to Paris.

Her final point, and perhaps the most important and telling aspect of their relationship, is that they choose to be together. And that, we agree, is what makes the difference between a successful relationship and one that is doomed to failure.
