It's over! Paul McCartney and Heather Mills reach divorce settlement
Filed under: Celebrity Relationships, Celebrity
Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has been ordered to pay approximately $48.7 million to his estranged wife, Heather Mills, in their divorce. And while this is a HUGE sum of money (about $34,000 for each day of their four-year marriage), it's still only a fifth of what she had sought.
After the ruling, Mills said, "I am so glad it is over. It is an incredible result in the end. We are very, very pleased. I am so, so happy with it." Well, no kidding.
When the couple initially split, it appeared they would maintain a certain level of civility, but as the saga has gone on, the mud-slinging and accusations have only gotten worse. I thought that, perhaps, with an official ruling, we'd have heard the end of it, but no. Mills is currently asking that the ruling not be made public because it involves the fact that their daughter only gets 35,000 pounds a year, "so obviously she's meant to travel B Class while her father travels A Class, but obviously I will pay for that." And, when asked if she would move abroad, she said she couldn't because, "if I tried to go, he would have an injunction on me in a second."
So, I lied. It's not over. Baby steps, people. Baby steps.
