The three R's and your wedding
Filed under: Budget Advice, Green Weddings
Every school child knows the Three R's, and they're not too difficult to apply to your wedding. Even better, they almost always make your wedding easier to keep within budget!1. Reduce: This means "less stuff", and if you're buying fewer things, you'll be spending less money. It can be taken a second way: avoid the high-impact stuff, like new jewelry. Try recycled gold, or vintage rings, ethical gems, and avoid conflict diamonds. In fact, why not try out a non-diamond ring?
2. Re-Use: Rental is a terrific and cost-effective way to re-use. You can rent everything from your gown to the tablecloths. And avoid plastic plates, cups, and cutlery! Centerpieces can go home with lucky reception guests, flowers can be shared between weddings, or go to hospitals or homes for the elderly. Cloth napkins instead of paper.
3. Recycle: Compost leftovers, recycle glass bottles, tin cans, and paper.
It's not difficult, and simply makes for less waste and less mess. What's not to like?
