It was a beautiful wedding: the rich red aisle carpet was dotted with flower petals as the three tiny flower girls toddled up the aisle. The bride was a vision in white, the pews glossy, tasteful antiques decorated the venue, while the bridesmaids' flowers added subtle color to the event. It was a beautiful wedding, normal in every way -- and it was held in a funeral home. The Sullivan-King Mortuary in Anderson, South Carolina, is the bride's family's business. When Taylor was a little girl, her father would tease her that the funeral home's chapel was where she should marry. She laughed at him -- until she became engaged, when she realized she couldn't imagine being married anywhere else.
It's not just that the setting is beautiful. It's about family. Though their business is associated with sadness in the minds of their clientele, for Taylor Young "this place is so much a part of me. Other places are just buildings. The feeling was like being married at home."
