Slim Down for Summer with That's Fit

Having your wedding program printed on a fan that can keep guests cool at an outdoor wedding and make a neat take-away favor is an elegant solution to printing programs. If you're a DIY kind of person and want to make your own fans, here are some tips, tricks, and instructions to get you started.

Decide first if you want a single blade fan like this example. These will be easier to typeset and print with your computer, but you can't fit as much information on them.

Multi-blade fans like this one provide more space for program information but will require more computer work and probably more cutting time.

Tips from those who have done it? First, make them thick to guarantee their ability to fan without bending. You may want to print on vellum or regular weight paper and glue onto heavy card stock. Second, take your time with typesetting. Experiment with different fonts and designs and triple-check to make sure the words will fit on the fan before you print. Third, get creative and decorate with ribbon, cut paper shapes, shells, beads, or anything that fits with your wedding theme and colors. Finally, as with any DIY project, enlist helpers. Making program fans can also make a fun get-together for friends and family.
