Abby McGrew looked elegant, and radiant,as she said "I Do" to fiancee Eli Manning at sunset last Saturday. The couple were married in a beautiful beachfront ceremony in Mexico. The bride wore a close-fitting, strapless white gown, covered with intricate gold embroidery, with an enormous tied bow at the back. Although quite a simple design, Abby carried it off beautifully. The destination wedding was a very private affair with only 60 guests invited to witness the exchanging of those life-changing vows. Nonetheless, it was certainly not a cheap event and estimates are that it cost the couple about $500 000. Which is, we suppose, modest by most celebrity standards.
Guests were taken to the beach front location in golf carts and were served drinks by white tuxedoed waiters before seating themselves in white folding chairs decorated with gold ribbons and striking green pomanders. Abby, who had adhered to an old wedding tradition and not seen her groom during the day, made her entrance through a pretty wrought iron gate carrying a gorgeous bouquet of white roses. The ceremony was conducted at an altar resplendently covered with pink wildflowers.
The six bridesmaids wore very simple, strapless ,champagne-coloured dresses and the groomsmen kept it very casual by going tie-less. Which is perfect for a beach wedding. Nonetheless, they were extremely stylish in their khaki suits, open-collar, white button-down shirts, with a white rose on their suit lapels.
It seems to have been a low-key but elegant wedding. No glitz, no glamour, no tawdry displays. Just a beautiful celebration of love. Which is what we believe a wedding is all about.
