So you've decided to have a Roaring 20's wedding and are racking your brain for inspiration for your wedding dress. How did brides of that time dress? Was it all about glitzy, beaded glamour or was there room for something softer and prettier? Actually, it was a mix of both. It's not that difficult and to help you out, we've put together a few guidelines:

  • Have a dress with an intermission hemline, where it falls mid-calf in front and is lower at the back.
  • Or go for an uneven, handkerchief hemline
  • Have a straight, chemise-style dress with a dropped waistline and/or a pleated skirt
  • Decorate your dress with tiers of fringing, tassles or bands of pearls and beads
  • Shoes could have buttoned straps, a slightly pointed toe and French heels
  • Wear saucy stockings and susenders
  • You could have a long, lace cap veil, a cloche hat or a feathered, beaded headdress. (Traditionally, the simpler your dress, the more elaborate the head piece should be)
