Handmade bridesmaid gift

If you'd like to present your bridesmaids with a handmade (but original!) gift -- one that is fun and will definitely be put to good use -- then try making a cork board out of real corks for the nearest and dearest in your life. It requires you to either knock back as many bottles of wine as you can stand or to browse Etsy -- a fantastic all-things-handmade Web site. It's easy enough to put one of these boards together on your own: just uncork your favorite bottle of Chardonnay or Merlot and then keep uncorking until you have enough corks to fill a perfect-sized frame. Then apply a little hot glue.
But if all that wine is too much to take on yourself, you can either invite over a backup team or choose your favorite style from a variety of Etsy stores. Regardless if you make it or purchase it this really fantastic thank-you gift can be adorned with any of your favorite pictures of you and your closest gal pals.
Your bridesmaids can hang it on their bedroom or office walls, and they will certainly appreciate receiving something that was made with a little extra effort.

My mother-in-law has made lots of really cool things with corks -- trivets, corkboards, trays, you name it. But the coolest cork display I've ever seen was at the Front Street Inn in Wilmington, NC. They had a bar, and the ENTIRE front of the bar was covered in a cork design that included the inn's initials. I'm saving my corks so I can make one myself, but it's taking a LOT of wine ...
