What do you do with bridal shower prizes?

We're stumped. An appalled bride recently wrote, disgusted after her bridal shower, that she couldn't believe the guests kept all the prizes from games for themselves. Didn't everyone know that you're supposed to give those to the bride?!Um, no, not everyone "knows" this. In fact, we'd never heard it before, and we think it sounds sort of silly. Why would there be prizes at all if the winners aren't supposed to keep them? But hey, just because we've never heard of it doesn't mean it's not a tradition somewhere. Maybe we're wrong.

I find this very odd. I know that, with the great pile of presents I'd already accumulated at my shower, I'd have felt just plain weird if people started handing over their little token shower gifts, too! I expect my three-year-old to let her friends take their loot bags home after her birthday party: Would I expect anything less of myself?

I don't have much experience with bridal showers.. I've only been to two (besides my own) and I didn't win any games so I didn't have to worry about what to do with prizes, lol. But at one of the showers, they had a prize for the bride that matched or was similar to whatever the person who won the game got. We didn't have any games at our one shower, which was a couple shower and more of a family get-together than a traditional shower. I certainly wouldn't have pitched a fit about people taking home prizes that THEY WON if we'd had them though! O_o
