Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz pull off an intimate vow swap
Filed under: Celebrity Weddings, Celebrity
Ashlee Simpson exchanged vows with her fiance of just over a month, Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz, last night at the Encino home of her parents, Joe and Tina Simpson. The wedding was attended by approximately 150 guests, including Tony Romo, who is rumored to be either splitting from or proposing to the elder Simpson sister, Jessica. Also in attendance was Wentz's bulldog, Hemingway, who served as ringbearer. Papa Joe performed the non-denominational ceremony. In addition to telling guests (via Evite) not to bring cameras or cell phones, Pashlee (Ashleete? Wimpson? How do we not have a horrible nickname for them yet?) also told their guests to "dress dark," and to wear cocktail attire but not be overdressed. The reception had a goth-Alice in Wonderland theme, complete with a Mad Hatter's tea party cake by Sam Godfrey of Perfect endings and a large, gothic cross on the altar. The tables were decorated with black beauty roses. But we know what you want to hear about -- the dress.
Ashlee's dress was an ivory lace Monique Lhuillier creation, which she accessorized with Neil Lane diamonds. The groomsmen (and, presumably the groom) were dressed in skinny-cut tuxedos (of course). We should get more details soon, since People magazine ponied up a reported seven-figures for exclusive rights to taking pictures at the wedding, and we're sure they're going to get those pics out before someone else leaks some sneaky photo.
The ceremony and reception took place in the Simpsons' tent-covered back yard amid temperatures nearing 100 degrees, so in addition to the scaffolding and decks they had built for the occasion, they had numerous generators pumping in order to keep guests cool.
