Envelope Stuffing 101
If you've stuffed one envelope, you've stuffed them all, right? Actually, according to etiquette expert Peggy Post in her book Wedding Etiquette, there is a right and a wrong way to stuff it. Here's what you need to know to properly mind your insertions and flaps:
Put the folded edge of the invitation into the envelope first. If your invites are a flat card, put the left edge in first.
Insertions should be placed in front of the actual invitation, so that when the envelope is sealed they face the flap (or back). For folded invitations, insertions should be aligned as just described but placed inside the fold.
If you have two envelopes, first put the invitation and all insertions (aligned as described) inside the inner envelope. These items should face the back (flap side) of the inner envelope. Then, place the unsealed inner envelope into the outer envelope. The flap of the inner envelope should face away from you as you put it in so that it faces the front of the outer envelope. Voila! Perfectly stuffed envelopes.
