Destination Wedding: Las Vegas
Filed under: Celebrity Weddings, Destination Ceremonies, Destination Weddings
When you think of a Vegas wedding, you probably think of all those disastrous alcohol-induced celebrity quickie marriages, like Britney Spears' infamous 55-hour marriage to that guy she was pals with in high school. With all the free alcohol and the city's reputation for wildness, it's no surprise that Sin City is notorious for ill-conceived nuptials. But not all Vegas weddings are impulse purchases. Lots of people plan luxurious, stylish, and fun destination weddings in the city that never sleeps, and you can have a lovely Vegas wedding if that's what you want.
The legal requirements for marriage in Vegas are simpler than just about anywhere else in the world. Do you have a pulse? Do you have a few bucks? Good, then you can get married in Vegas.
There's so much to see and do in the city, you'll want to plan some time to run around with your wedding party and let loose.
- Men should have no trouble finding something for a wild bachelor party. Most casino hotels now offer topless shows to keep patrons from leaving the casinos for strip clubs. The Luxor hotel's Fantasy show is one of Vegas' favorite topless revues.
- Naked girls are everywhere in Vegas, but ladies can enjoy their own saucy bachelorette parties at Australia's Thunder From Down Under, a super sexy male revue that offers fantastic bachelorette party packages (no pun intended).
- If nudity isn't your thing, then why do you want a Vegas wedding? Just kidding -- there's plenty to do on the strip that doesn't involve stripping. We recommend any of the Cirque du Soleil shows -- wholesome entertainment for all ages.
- Hugh Hefner and his Girls Next Door love The Palms, which features a Playboy suite, of course. Will Hef and Holly go there to tie the knot, if they ever do? It sounds like a long shot, but it's certainly one of their favorite honeymoon suites.
- The Bellagio is a favorite hangout for lots of celebs. Some have even been married there recently.
- For a less expensive stay that's still on the Vegas strip, try Circus Circus. It's as family friendly as it gets in Vegas, and the accommodations are just fine.
- Elvis lives in Vegas, and he's performing weddings all over the strip! Perhaps Vegas' most popular wedding officiant, expect to pay a little extra for the King to do the honors.
- Star Trek weddings are another popular theme in Vegas, and you can find these weddings at many of the chapels on the strip.
