We all know that fashion as it's seen paraded down the catwalk is a far cry from what finally ends up in High Street stores. We also know that the French are renowned for their dominating the fashion scene. What we wouldn't expect to find is a Scotsman in Paris, designing couture wedding wear that rivals the outrageousness of Jean Paul Gaultier.David Purves is exactly that. Having spent some years working as assistant to John Galiano during the 90's, he now works from his studio in the trendy Parisian quarter of Montparnasse, creating avant-garde bridal fashion that sets him apart from popular bridal names such as Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka and Sassi Holford.
Can his designs be worn as he conceptualises them? Truthfully, we can't see many conventional brides choosing to don some of these creations, but they do hugely bold statements. Wear them if you dare!
