Though a wedding ceremony usually is only about 30 minutes and a wedding reception just lasts a few hours, your wedding day will be a full one. "Generally it's a 12-hour day by the time the pictures start being taken, the ceremony takes place and the reception after that," says New York City makeup artist Amanda Shackleton, founder of nybridalbeauty.com.

"Eighty percent of the brides I work with say they are worried about looking perfect up until the ceremony and during the ceremony, but they are not as worried about the reception." Regardless, Shackleton wants each of her brides to look camera-ready until she drives off in her getaway car, so we asked her to let us in on the five products she believes really stay put and make touch-ups unnecessary.

"What I love about L'Oreal Voluminous Volume Building Waterproof Mascara is that it's super thick," says Shackleton. "It has a great formula and makes your lashes huge. I think I've tried every mascara out there from the $4 Maybellines to the $40 Chanels. This one is about $8 and is just a really nice thickening and lasting mascara. And because it's waterproof, it doesn't move." Shackleton only uses black mascara, no matter the bride's skin tone. "Even if it's someone who is really pale, the lashes need to be dark to get the depth in the eye. Not all brides want dark eyeshadow or a smoky eye look, so you need to apply dark mascara or your eyes will fade in photos. The big white dress you're wearing will take away a lot of the color from your face so you need the mascara to pump it back up." $7.49, Walgreens

"MAC Pro Longwear Gloss Coat is exactly what it sounds like: a clear coat of gloss you put over your lipstick to make the color last," says Shackleton. "You can take whichever color you really like, put that on first and then apply this over that, as opposed to wearing a colored lip stain, which never looks on your lips like it does in the tube." Even better, says Shackleton, "You don't even have to reapply your lipstick if you use this. You can put the gloss on right over if you want to retouch it at some point during the reception. And for those who've heard lip stains can lead to cracked, peeling lips, Shackleton says, "Yes, some of the lip stains can make your lips dry, but this one doesn't. It keeps your lips shiny as well." $14.50, macys.com

"I like gel eyeliner because it's a little bit stronger and gives more definition to the eye," explains Shackleton. "Gel eyeliner is somewhere between an eye pencil and liquid eyeliner, and seems to be the new formula everyone uses. Once you put on Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, it will absolutely not move. If you rub your eyes or pour a bucket of water over your head it won't come off. An oil-based makeup remover will do the trick if you wash your face a couple times first." Shackleton typically applies black to her brides, but says, "It depends on the girl. Sometimes I do a deep plum or a silvery gray color. I always do it on the top lid. You have to be careful when you do it on the bottom because it dries quickly so you have to smudge it right away. Otherwise you'll have a thick line going across." Shackleton says she stays away from pencils because some smudge easily. "If the girl wipes her eyes, you just don't know what will happen." $21, bobbibrown.com

"I love Benefit Benetint, which stains your cheeks," says Shackleton. "I like the classic red. I put that on just over the foundation and it creates a really nice, true, rosy cheek look that is very natural looking. You can layer it and put your powder over it." For those frightened of the bright cherry hue, Shackleton says, "It works on absolutely anyone and doesn't look as red on your face as it does in the photo (of the product). It's one of those products that when you put it on, a little bit at a time, you can control how much color you're adding." $28, sephora.com

"I love oil blotting powders and use Shiseido's Oil Control Blotting Powders," says Shackleton. "If you've got this, then you don't have to carry a powder with you. In general I don't like my brides to put too much powder on because if they do, it will change the color of their face. With these blotting sheets, you're just soaking up the oil as opposed to adding more makeup on top of it." As to where to apply it, Shackleton says, "You just use it on the T-zone, meaning on your forehead, on your nose and on your chin." $17, sephora.com
