While doing his duty and photographing the happy couple as they made their way up the aisle after saying "I do" one wedding photographer made the mistake of not watching where he was going. While of course the couple and wedding guests were probably concerned for his welfare, it's a pretty good guess that all the pictures he took before and during the wedding ceremony were lost because of his misstep. Watch and see what happened:

Video was not available Http://www.digitalphotographydarkroom.com but from the looks of the picture in the article looks like the photographer got all wet.

Sure hope he was shooting digital. If he'd put his memory card in a bag of rice overnight he'd at least have a chance of saving some of the images for his clients.

I have several min of pew, the camera was dropped and pew/floor became part of the video. Now this was 25 years ago, things were a bit different than they are now. at least I do not have any falling people. Oh I am wrong, my ring bearer fell and knocked out his front tooth. But again still married 25 years.

Must have been one of those "family friend" photographers. These "weekend warriors" always provide the best entertainment at weddings. They always pack plenty of inexperience and roll after roll of "photographer wanna-be" distraction to a wedding. A word of advice...ALWAYS HIRE A PROFESSIONAL. When the cake, the dress, and the decorations are all gone...it's the pictures you will have left (aside of course, from the spouse!)

The "weekend warrior" picture takers have become the bane of the professional photographer's existence. Any idiot can pick up a camera and snap some candids. It takes someone with know-how to get all those formals to look right. Please, please, please spend the extra money and hire someone who knows what they are doing! You will be so much happier in the long run.

Why on earth should people waste hundreds of dollars paying someone to take a few pictures? After the wedding, I had my dress cleaned and sealed and guess what? I never look at it either. Oh, I have maybe once or twice but, it wasn't worth the cost. I should have let another happy bride use it. Now, it just takes up room in the basement. By the same token, how often do people really look at their wedding pictures? Yeah, not much and not hundreds of dollars worth. Save your money for your house, THAT'S something that's really important, not a few pictures.

Has anyone asked why the asshole who shot this clip did not simply say ""WATCH OUT FOOL!!! There's a fountain behind you.!!!"" But,I guess 30 seconds is too short a time for the videographer to react... I hope he doesn't drive an automobile...

I don't think that shouting, "Watch out, fool!" would be an appropriate thing to shout out at a wedding, do you? What if someone thought that the other videographer was addressing either the bride or the groom? LOL!!

Oh what's that a red light???

If he was using a digital camera and a memory card, the photos might still be salavagable. Just needs to put the cards in a bowl of dry rice grains for a few days then see what happens. My little dive camera had a mishap and while the camera was done, I was able to retrieve the pictures on the card once it had dried out all the way.

I feel so bad for that photographer. He was just trying to get some good photos for the happy couple. :( Poor guy. But for the record, all photographers were "wannabe's" at some point or another.. someone just had to give them a chance. You can't become a professional without first gaining the experience through doing.

That's not true. Before you charge someone for professional services of any type you should be competent in what you're doing. There are lots of ways to learn photography without ruining peoples memories.

  • Ben

Gee, let's see, carried to its logical conclusion you'd be happy to let a "Surgeon-Wanna-Be" use you for "weekend practice"...Until of course he "got up to speed"...:-)

My argument stands, a Professional doesn't gain his expertise at the client's expense...

Now that was hilarious. I nearly pissed my pants laughing so hard when I watched this. This is an easy win on Americas Most Funniest Videos.

Poor guy! I can't say whether he was a "weekend warrior" or not, but I do know for a fact that even the most seasoned professional photographer does not have eyes in the back of his head! Seriously, someone could have let the poor guy know to watch out for the fountain. Hope he had digitial equipment and can salvage the photos at least. The many $$$ of photographic equipment...that's probably done for. Yikes!

why was someone shooting a video of the man with the camera unless they knew something was going to happen. so they could send it in to someone who may use it
