Courtesy of USBristol Palin - the eldest daughter of former Governor Sarah Palin has announced - in a story in US magazine that she is engaged to Levi Johnston, the father of her 18-month-old son, Tripp.
The bride to be tells the magazine that she hadn't told her parents yet and, "It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. Hopefully she will jump on board."
The couple reunited three months ago and got engaged two weeks ago. They were reconnected during a meeting to discuss custody of their son.
After the magazine was published, Sarah and Todd Palin gave a statement to NBC's "Today" show Tuesday that said they want what's best for their children and that Bristol believes in "redemption and forgiveness."
Levi tells the magazine, "I really thought we were over. So when I went, I had no hope. I think we both just started talking -- and then we took Tripp for a walk."
Bristol continued that, "When he left that night, we didn't hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: 'I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again' ... I was in shock."
Levi already has her name tattooed on his ring finger. And Bristol is wearing an engagement ring in the photos.
It is assumed the couple was paid for their interview.
