25 Delicious Wedding Favors
Choose something sweet, sparked by the season; think maple syrup in glass maple-leaf bottles in the fall or snowman brownie pops in winter. For a spring wedding, fill mini painted pails with chocolate-covered cherries, and in the summer, consider pairs of lollipops shaped like popsicles.
A favorite family food can serve as your favor. For example: Package pieces of your grandma's famous strudel or your uncle's peanut brittle in clear cellophane tied with ribbon, and attach a calligraphed recipe card.
Set up an interactive favor station, such as a popcorn bar with a variety of gourmet flavors, from cheddar-jalapeno to white-chocolate with a cinnamon drizzle. Provide silver scoops and small paper bags in your wedding colors so guests can customize their own sacks to take home.
Offer a boxed, freshly baked brioche, Danish or other pastry to be eaten for breakfast. Wrap it in clear cellophane tied with a ribbon, and include a note inviting guests to enjoy it the next morning.
Let the locale spark your favor idea: Give a burlap sack of Key lime pie mix for a tropical fete in Florida, a jar of homemade blueberry preserves for an affair held in Maine or a bag of pralines for nuptials held in Savannah.
Play up your heritage by gifting guests with traditional treats that are representative of your backgrounds, such as Scottish shortbread or Chinese almond cookies. Include a note explaining the ritual or significance.
Get crazy with color. Arrange a monochromatic candy bar containing sweets in only one wedding hue -- glass canisters of all-white M&M's, Jordan almonds, fancy marshmallows and yogurt-covered pretzels, for example -- and invite everyone to fill their own bags.
Dare to DIY. Create your own foodie favors by pouring chocolate into fancy molds or fun-shaped ice trays.
Plan a photo finish. Have a picture of you and your groom printed on M&M's in your wedding colors and package them in square, see-through containers.
For a nautical wedding, give Rice Krispie treats iced with sailboat designs in boxes with an anchor-shaped charm attached.
