Liz Johnston, eco-friendly expert, on choosing a "green" wedding florist:

Find a florist who is inventive and not dependent upon imported, chemically sprayed flowers. Using local, seasonal and organic flowers, which are never sprayed with toxic chemicals, lowers fuel consumption and is often less costly than ordering exotic species, which must be shipped. You can also work with your florist to design simple arrangements that use fewer flowers. Or, consider using faux flowers that you can keep long after your wedding day. You'll also get double the value from your flowers if you use the flowers from your ceremony and bridesmaids' bouquets as decorations at your reception.
