Listen to the Joystiq Podcast (because your ears can't read)

This gown by San Francisco dressmaker Siri is a perfect balance of full-on glamour and comfort - the silk shantug fabric is a sensual delight, the dress is big and bold, and it's all held together with an adjustable sash - so easy and oh-so-pretty!

You can mix-and-match (or contrast, as the case may be) the sash and gown colors to match your wedding colors. We think the navy color would look smashing with a gold or ivory sash - wouldn't you agree?

This gown from the Legends line by designer Romona Keveza is classic and timelessly elegant - the sumptuous silk, shimmering belt sash and full skirt are traditional elements of bridal couture, but the gorgeous gold color and sleek bodice are modern and oh-so-chic. Take a look at that bustle! How did they make something so traditional feel so fresh?

We love it when designers experiment with tradition but still aim to create something pretty and wearable - very few brides want to be on the cutting edge on their wedding way, but no one wants to be boring. In this case, the result is timeless, not tired.

We've chosen this pretty bridesmaids dress for your navy and gold wedding because of its spaghetti straps and gathered bodice - both are casual yet delicate details that will add a touch of playfulness to your formal wedding. The simple bodice is accented by a sash at the natural waistline.

The dress is shown floor-length but it can be shortened to tea-length at no additional charge (bravo!).

Available in sizes 4-28. Check out Jasminebridal.com for more colors and to find a retailer in your area.

The Cotton Bride by Chris Kole was started in 2007 to meet the demand for gowns made from all-natural materials that are light and pleasurable to wear. In today's greener world fewer brides want to wear synthetics that don't breathe - yuck.

This dress from the Spring 2009 Collection by The Cotton Bride is made in cream cotton lace in a delicate birch leaf pattern. We chose it for it's unusual asymmetrical tea-length bubble skirt and sweet yet fashion-forward vibe. It'll be perfect for your navy and gold wedding!

Check out The Cotton Bride for more information.

The intricate yet dainty eyelet-style detailing in the bodice of style 225 by Ada Bridal sets this gown apart from the seemingly endless sea of strapless wedding dresses. It's strikingly beautiful in its simplicity and nicely balances the full ball skirt without looking too "done."

Designer Ada Athanassiou has been in the business for over two decades and says that she "values exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail over commercial appeal and mass production" - we believe that this gown exemplifies that.

Today we bring you a frivolous, decadent and oh-so-fun dress: It's not for everyone, but oh well! Life is short. We say live it up!

This show stopping white silk satin gown with trumpet skirt by luxury designer Romona Keveza is a couture lover's dream come true. The workmanship and attention to detail is just spectacular! For instance, take a look at the black button detail running up to the back to the silk organza kiss-pleat stole, which is held together by a dramatic black satin bows at each shoulder.

Gorgeous, no?

The stole is removable, and reveals another black bow in the back - like this:

Simply brilliant. More views of the dress sans stole are after the jump.

This dress is great-all around. It's a fun party dress and would be perfect for a swanky rehearsal dinner. It's short and sleek and white - making it a fine option for the hopelessly chic bride who wouldn't be caught dead in a princess ball gown. And it also has a definite 80's vibe (check out that belt) and a tiered skirt - which makes it white-hot and trendy.

It also comes in black (picture after the jump) - a look your bridesmaids will love. On the other hand, YOU could wear it in black to your rehearsal, right?

Get more fashion bang for your buck with this very chic offering by Banana Republic. It's not "officially" a bridesmaids dress, but let's face it - for many of us that's a huge part of its charm.

This is a great update of a little black dress - by layering black viscose over a light-colored lining you get a trendy gunmetal color. Then the dress is cinched at the waist with a tough studded belt so you get biker-chick attitude along with glamour-girl cool. Give them pink or orange bouquets to hold for a splash of color.

Available for $225 at Banana Republic.com

Combine pretty lace in pastel brights as fresh as sorbet with a simple silhouette and you get the Arianna bridesmaid dress by Jenny Yoo. We're huge fans of the sage green color shown here, but you can choose from 18 shades - and they all come with matching silk lining.

This strapless dress with a sleek a-line silhouette has an unfussy preppy vibe to it - it's classy and elegant without any pretense.

Available at jennyyoo.com.

Pricing starts at $276 (when you order 7+) to $325 (for 1 or 2 dresses.)

This is not technically a bridal gown, and it's certainly not for the faint of wallet, but we fell in love with the bow belt in this Michael Kors dress, as well as the fact that the skirt does indeed look like a tulip. It's a silhouette that's both incredibly pretty and forgiving - hooray for that!

Made in Italy of silk wool, this dress is so perfectly modern and quirky that you may be tempted to shelve tradition and buy it in black instead of white. It just may be the perfect little black dress.

This ballerina-style gown by Angelina Faccenda is pure femininity: The full tulle skirt with chapel length train is classically bridal and is accented with a removable fabric flower sash.

We like that the bodice has a simple V-line neckline and is as easy to wear as your favorite summer tank - so you're less likely to worry about a wardrobe malfunction (which is not always the case with a strapless dress!)

Go to morilee.com for more information and to find a retailer.

We've discussed the importance of thinking about the "back view" - if you're having a traditional wedding ceremony, it's a good bet that your guests will become very familiar with back of your dress. Why not give them something pretty to look at while you're busy exchanging vows?

We loved this dress by Liancarlo - the illusion back has scattered crystals and is embroidered in gorgeous silver and ivory french chantilly and is both lovely and interesting to look at. It takes a simple and delicate sheath dress to glamorous new levels.

(You'll need to wear something like this instead of a regular bra. Obviously.)
