Sage by Christos Bridal
The sage by Christos is a simple scoop neck empire-waist gown with a beautiful velvet ribbon detail at the waist that cleverly wraps around your bare back and ties up into a pretty knot. It's a very sexy detail thanks to the deep v-back. In fact, all of the embellishment is at the back - there are fabric buttons from the base of the v-back to the velvet bow detail at the chapel train, and that's it - but somehow it's more than enough.

Check out the Christos website for more information.

For the bride who wants to look drop-dead elegant, we offer this stunning dress by Casablanca. The natural waist is highlighted by a wide sash, and fabric buttons travel from the bottom of the "V" at the back to the hemline. The French lace halter bodice is the key - it's beautiful and sophisticated, and certainly not fit for a "blushing" bride. Instead, we think this dress is appropriate for a real woman - and how many of us are getting married at 18 these days? Chances are that by the time you take that walk down the aisle you've lived quite a bit and there's nothing wrong in letting your dress reflect that. So say we.

Available at Casablanca bridal.

Liven up a classic satin sheath with a burst of bright color - we just love this yellow - for an update on the traditional bridesmaids dress. The sky's the limit when accessorizing this simple silhouette - you could add a brooch, dramatic flowers or a shawl in a contrasting color.

We'd love to see a wedding where every bridesmaid wears a simple dress like this, but in different brights. Wouldn't it be refreshing?

$188 sizes 0-14. Available at Nordstrom.

The Anastasia by Maggie Sottero is quite the popular dress (click here and here and here to see real brides wearing it) and we're not surprised - it's the quintessential bridal look. The one piece slim a-line gown has a sweetheart neckline and a corset bodice. The gown is scattered with beading and Swarovski crystals atop three tiers of floaty organza. A view of the corset is after the jump.

  • In a rush? This dress is available as a "rush cut" at participating retailers

A short and sassy mini-dress for your wedding, this sweet concoction by Watters is subtly sexy in lace but still full of romance. And isn't that all you need on your wedding day?

The scalloped neckline and hem add enough interest to this dress that you won't need a veil. (Let's be honest here - most veils would be longer than this dress. This isn't for the shy.)

Available in sizes 0-15. Visit Watters.com for more information.

A dress that's sure to flatter a variety of body shapes, this strapless beauty by JS Boutique just might be the bridesmaids dress you've been searching for!

The pleated bodice makes the most of what you have up top, and the nipped waist (accented with an optional bow) that falls all the way to a release pleat skirt is fun and will create a feminine hourglass figure. There's something very fifties about this dress, and we love its sexy innocence.

$148 Sizes 2-14. Available at Nordstrom.

What a perfect dress for your navy and gold wedding! This bridesmaids dress by Charsa Designs has a simple a-line silhouette but is enhanced by the beautiful shimmery navy color. The dress has an empire waist and crossover-v neckline so it will flatter a variety of figures and is bra-friendly.

It comes in your choice of faille or silk dupioni, and is of course available in a wide variety of colors. The picture shows the dress with silver shoes, but we think it would look just as lovely with pale gold sandals.

Available at Charsa.com starting at $270 (sizes 2-24)

This gown from the Legends line by designer Romona Keveza is classic and timelessly elegant - the sumptuous silk, shimmering belt sash and full skirt are traditional elements of bridal couture, but the gorgeous gold color and sleek bodice are modern and oh-so-chic. Take a look at that bustle! How did they make something so traditional feel so fresh?

We love it when designers experiment with tradition but still aim to create something pretty and wearable - very few brides want to be on the cutting edge on their wedding way, but no one wants to be boring. In this case, the result is timeless, not tired.

What could be easier than letting your bridesmaids choose their own little black dress? They get to find whatever pretty dress they like without having to pay for alterations and you don't have to worry about color variations - black is black (for the most part.)

Still, if any of your bridesmaids are having trouble finding a dress that flatters their figure show them this very chic and very wearable offering from Lane Bryant. The draped neckline is soft and interesting, and the dress is inexpensive and easy to care for. We're sure they'll love it!

Available at Lane Bryant for $59.50 in sizes 14-28

Longtime bridal favorite St. Pucchi has a gown for every bride - even one planning a Renaissance wedding! Let other brides go for sleek modernity or preppy chic, you want a dress that is historically accurate with a twist of glamour.

Style 9188 has dramatic bell sleeves and the basque waist typical of Renaissance dresses but is crafted in sumptuous silk satin. The folds of fabric are covered in ornate gold embroidery so you'll shimmer in the candlelight.

Go to stpucchi.com for more information.

This dress is great-all around. It's a fun party dress and would be perfect for a swanky rehearsal dinner. It's short and sleek and white - making it a fine option for the hopelessly chic bride who wouldn't be caught dead in a princess ball gown. And it also has a definite 80's vibe (check out that belt) and a tiered skirt - which makes it white-hot and trendy.

It also comes in black (picture after the jump) - a look your bridesmaids will love. On the other hand, YOU could wear it in black to your rehearsal, right?

Get more fashion bang for your buck with this very chic offering by Banana Republic. It's not "officially" a bridesmaids dress, but let's face it - for many of us that's a huge part of its charm.

This is a great update of a little black dress - by layering black viscose over a light-colored lining you get a trendy gunmetal color. Then the dress is cinched at the waist with a tough studded belt so you get biker-chick attitude along with glamour-girl cool. Give them pink or orange bouquets to hold for a splash of color.

Available for $225 at Banana Republic.com

This is not technically a bridal gown, and it's certainly not for the faint of wallet, but we fell in love with the bow belt in this Michael Kors dress, as well as the fact that the skirt does indeed look like a tulip. It's a silhouette that's both incredibly pretty and forgiving - hooray for that!

Made in Italy of silk wool, this dress is so perfectly modern and quirky that you may be tempted to shelve tradition and buy it in black instead of white. It just may be the perfect little black dress.

$2,195 at michaelkors.com

We've discussed the importance of thinking about the "back view" - if you're having a traditional wedding ceremony, it's a good bet that your guests will become very familiar with back of your dress. Why not give them something pretty to look at while you're busy exchanging vows?

We loved this dress by Liancarlo - the illusion back has scattered crystals and is embroidered in gorgeous silver and ivory french chantilly and is both lovely and interesting to look at. It takes a simple and delicate sheath dress to glamorous new levels.

(You'll need to wear something like this instead of a regular bra. Obviously.)
