For the bride who wants to look drop-dead elegant, we offer this stunning dress by Casablanca. The natural waist is highlighted by a wide sash, and fabric buttons travel from the bottom of the "V" at the back to the hemline. The French lace halter bodice is the key - it's beautiful and sophisticated, and certainly not fit for a "blushing" bride. Instead, we think this dress is appropriate for a real woman - and how many of us are getting married at 18 these days? Chances are that by the time you take that walk down the aisle you've lived quite a bit and there's nothing wrong in letting your dress reflect that. So say we.

Available at Casablanca bridal.

A short and sassy mini-dress for your wedding, this sweet concoction by Watters is subtly sexy in lace but still full of romance. And isn't that all you need on your wedding day?

The scalloped neckline and hem add enough interest to this dress that you won't need a veil. (Let's be honest here - most veils would be longer than this dress. This isn't for the shy.)

Available in sizes 0-15. Visit Watters.com for more information.

We find this dress by Casablanca bridal completely enchanting: The delicate lace overlay and front and back V-necklines are classically pretty and the slim A-line and chapel train are perfect on just about everybody.

Don't you find that the lace hem just enhances this dress? It's the little details that make all the difference.

The Cotton Bride by Chris Kole was started in 2007 to meet the demand for gowns made from all-natural materials that are light and pleasurable to wear. In today's greener world fewer brides want to wear synthetics that don't breathe - yuck.

This dress from the Spring 2009 Collection by The Cotton Bride is made in cream cotton lace in a delicate birch leaf pattern. We chose it for it's unusual asymmetrical tea-length bubble skirt and sweet yet fashion-forward vibe. It'll be perfect for your navy and gold wedding!

Check out The Cotton Bride for more information.

Combine pretty lace in pastel brights as fresh as sorbet with a simple silhouette and you get the Arianna bridesmaid dress by Jenny Yoo. We're huge fans of the sage green color shown here, but you can choose from 18 shades - and they all come with matching silk lining.

This strapless dress with a sleek a-line silhouette has an unfussy preppy vibe to it - it's classy and elegant without any pretense.

Available at jennyyoo.com.

Pricing starts at $276 (when you order 7+) to $325 (for 1 or 2 dresses.)

We've discussed the importance of thinking about the "back view" - if you're having a traditional wedding ceremony, it's a good bet that your guests will become very familiar with back of your dress. Why not give them something pretty to look at while you're busy exchanging vows?

We loved this dress by Liancarlo - the illusion back has scattered crystals and is embroidered in gorgeous silver and ivory french chantilly and is both lovely and interesting to look at. It takes a simple and delicate sheath dress to glamorous new levels.

(You'll need to wear something like this instead of a regular bra. Obviously.)

This dress is a sleek alternative to the tiered gowns that have been so hot this year. If you like the statuesque look of tiered gowns but would rather avoid frilly ruffles, this design does away with them and replaces them with crystal appliques that will sparkle in the candlelight. But that's not the only luxurious detail in this gown: It's made of lovely Alencon lace and has additional crystal embellishments throughout. The back is accented by a deep V which leads to a row of the tiniest fabric-covered buttons you've ever seen.

There's definitely a lot going on in this dress, but the masters at Priscilla of Boston manage to make it all exquisitely elegant and timeless.

Most of the buzz about the Kung Fu Panda premiere at the Cannes Film Festival revolved around a pregnant and glowing Angelina Jolie. However, there was another actress on that red carpet equally worthy of admiration.

Lucy Liu looked absolutely amazing in a white Cavalli gown -- a gown that would be just perfect for a bride. Here's why we adored it:
  • Subtly sexy -- The deep, sexy v-neck mixed with the sweet lace makes for one fabulous frock.

  • Gorgeous glow -- Sometimes girls with fairer skin shy away from wearing white, instead opting for a cream or champagne hue, but Lucy shows that those with pale skin can look amazing in white.

  • Red carpet romance -- The soft curls of Lucy's hair paired with the feminine cut of the dress makes for a really romantic look.

If you're in love with this look as much as we are, read on to see how you can incorporate it into your wedding:

Michelle Williams has made a point to stay out of the spotlight since the untimely death of her ex, Heath Ledger. However, after making a last minute decision to come to Cannes for the premiere of her new film, Wendy and Lucy, she made her first red carpet appearance, and she did not disappoint.

The beautiful lace Chanel gown perfectly suited Michelle -- here's why.

  • Classy couture -- She's still in a grieving period, so wearing something wild and flamboyant wouldn't have looked right. The gown is elegant and classy, and though it drew plenty of attention, it was because it was beautiful -- not because folks were speculating on how everything stayed in place.

  • Lace and face -- We think Michelle has such a beautiful, feminine face -- a face almost made to wear lace and ruffles (and adorable short hair -- don't grow it out too long, Michelle!). We also love that she went with a bright lip -- everything else is so neutral that the dark lipstick really amps up the entire look.

  • Perfectly accessorized -- It would be hard for us to put into words how much we adore her shoes. They have feathers on them, but not so many that she looks like she's wearing birds for shoes. They really accentuate the retro vibe of the dress. The simple clutch was a good choice, too -- she didn't bring anything too shiny or heavily patterned that would take away from the dress, but it still has its own interest.

Are you as in love with this look as we are? Here's how you can have it for your wedding day:

This gown by Demetrios is a sophisticated take on the traditional sweetheart gown - the key is in the ruching at the bustline. We're partial to all-over lace and love the slim-fitting bodice and bold neckline. A chapel train kicks up the drama factor; despite the traditional materials and shape, this dress is not for the shy but rather for the woman who wants to command the attention of all her guests (as well she should - it is her wedding, after all!)

A romantic gown in ivory Alencon lace over champagne charmeuse silk, this modified A-line gown by designer Jim Hjelm has swept us off our feet! It's elegant, easy to wear and a timeless classic you will be proud to pass down to your daughter.

It has a strapless elongated bodice accented by an ivory satin ribbon at the waist - so this gown will be very flattering to a bride that has a long and lean body. Add some creamy pearl earrings and soft, flowing hair and become the romantic bride of your dreams.

Had this been any other week, we would have placed this dress by Alexia Ardmor strictly under the "bridesmaids" category - but since this is elopement week we think this dress is a fun option for the eloping bride.

You see, we don't think you have to give up lace and your "something blue" just because your husband will be the only person seeing you on your wedding day!

You may have noticed that we have a wee obsession with elegant and functional cover-ups for bridal gowns. We freely admit that this stems from memories of our own wedding, where a strict No Bare Shoulders rule kept us busy visiting bridal salons in search of a gown that could be appropriately modest during the religious ceremony that was held in a beautiful old church but could also turn into a breezy and fashionable dress for our modern luxe reception.

Which is where this gown by Christos comes in: Is that Alencon lace capelet not the sweetest thing you've ever seen? Delicate but still sexy in it's own modest way. We think we'd probably keep it on all night - that's how pretty it is!

This style by hot hot hot designer Marchesa is exactly what an eloping fashionista needs: A classy outfit that will keep your low-key wedding a secret (shh!) but that packs enough of a style punch to serve you well at your inevitable post-elopement bash. We ADORE the lace bateau-neck jacket, it's divine and flirty and will certainly be worn again. (Can you imagine wearing it over jeans and a simple top?) The sweet crepe dress under it is sleek enough for daytime but when cinched at the waist with a satin ribbon becomes the perfect little white dress for night.

Who knew practicality could be so pretty?

This is an absolutely regal dress-and-veil combination by London couturier Stewart Parvin (not surprising, since he counts Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth among his clients.) We were stunned by the classic beauty of this pairing: We love how the veil really adds another dimension to the bodice, and how the lace trim enhances the neckline for an effect that is not at all demure and all about glamour.
