A night in a honeymoon suite can spoil you. Your own bed just doesn't seem as nice anymore after you've spent a night in the most luxurious linens your skin has ever touched.

If you can't stop daydreaming about resting your head on those pillows again, you don't have to move into a luxury hotel. You can find the bedding you loved in that honeymoon suite online at Pacific Pillows. This website sells the same bed linens featured in all the fanciest hotel suites in the world.

Order them as a wedding gift to yourself, or stick them on your registry as one of your big ticket items. After all, a newlywed couple deserves a welcoming bed.
When you pick out your wedding china, are you looking for something classic? Something elegant and fancy, or something funky and different? If you tend toward the funky, you'll love Orion Glassware Collection's handblown Mexican glassware.
Whether you're looking for glasses for your wedding registry, or to use for your rehearsal, reception, or bridal showers, you should definitely have a look at these glasses. They are made from recycled soda bottles, so they're eco-friendly as well as beautiful.

Each glass is handblown, so no two are exactly alike, and they come in several colors, so you can select the color that best matches your wedding or home decor. Flip through the gallery below for some examples of these artistic pieces. To order, visit this page.

With 'going green' becoming more and more important in all areas of life, including weddings, here's a gift that ticks all the right boxes: practical, earth-friendly, stylish, unique and affordable. It's called the Wedding Plantabox and it's available from Not On The High Street. com for £40.00. The box is stencilled with the names of the bridal couple, as well as their wedding date, and is planted with seasonal flowers.

Also, the smaller plantaboxes, planted with lavender, herbs or a mini cone, would make wonderful rustic table centrepieces and venue decorations. The boxes can be stencilled with table numbers or any other short message and, best of all, can be kept long after the wedding is over. Fantastic keepsakes of a fabulous day.
As you plan your wedding, and particularly when you plan your reception, your guests can start to feel more like financial obligations than friends-and-family. How many plates can you afford, how much free alcohol can you provide, will you go for the larger venue (at greater cost) or trim the guest list and take the less-expensive option?

Ka-ching! And then, after all that trouble, they're telling you they can't afford to come?? It can feel like a real slap in the face. In fact, attending a wedding can be an expensive proposition. One study in the UK found that the average guest spends about £300 (roughly $600) on food, drink, accommodation, clothes, and gift. Which is a chunk of change, you have to admit. Slightly under a third of this total is the gift.

And for those of you who weren't sure about inviting all your parents' friends? People over 50 tend to spend almost double the average. Not that we'd encourage you to judge your guests' value by the depth of their wallets. That would be crass.
Greenzer is a brand new website designed to make shopping for environmentally friendly products easier. The site rates products of all kinds, listing only those that meet its tough green standards. The selection is still small on this new site, but there are some products on the site that would make great green wedding or shower gifts.

One featured wedding gift on the site is the Ceago Vintner's Wine Collection, which comes with two wines (red and white, for either taste), assorted roasted nuts, fresh fruits and chocolate caramel pecan clusters -- all of which are organic. The set also comes with a bottle biodynamic, cold-pressed olive oil.

In addition to some really nice green gift sets, Greenzer lists hundreds of cosmetics products, which would be great for the bride and her bridesmaids at the wedding. They also make good shower gifts or gifts for the bridesmaids.
Whether you, the bridal couple, need it not, your guests will want to give you a present. So how do you avoid being on the receiving end of a bunch of unwanted items? You could ask for cash but that can be a bit awkward.

For UK brides and grooms, there is a nicer way of asking your guests to dole out a wad of bank notes. It's called The Bottom Drawer.

This is how it works:
  • You register with them, then direct your guests to the website.
  • Guests can then choose to donate money to a specific item on your gift list.
  • There are six categories of gifts for you to choose from, including paying towards a new kitchen, or your honeymoon.
  • Guests choose a category on your list and make a payment

For the couple who are just about to swap their singleton status to that of 'smug-married and proud of it', here's the perfect gift: a set of painted wooden letters boldly proclaiming your new status: Mr and Mrs, from London company, Polly and Prince. (They do have other romantic words if you like the idea but find "Mr and Mrs' too unbearably smug for you.)

The letters, 10cm high, are made of MDF and are available in a choice of 4 trendy colours at £26.99.

Another funky offering from Polly and Prince is this Dominatrix-Love-Honor-Obey cheeky bed linen set. Or go the for fun, yet neutral-ish, Mr and Mrs pillowcases.

The really nice thing about this company is that they source their products locally and you can be assured that nothing they sell has been mass-produced in a nasty ol' sweatshop. Go on, add these to your gift list. You know you want to.
It's pretty harsh when your best friend marries the girl of your dreams, and then on top of having to watch her promise to hold him forever, you're supposed to buy your buddy a gift. He already has everything, right? Not so fast...

The team over at Asylum has put together a collection of 15 Awesomely Stupid Wedding Gifts For Guys Getting Hitched. The groom probably doesn't already have any of these things, and whether or not he needs them is not the issue. You know you want to go down in friend history as the guy who gave him the Bacon-of-the-Month subscription, or the Margarator, a margarita smoothie processor. We don't make this stuff up.

Though the bride and groom have their gifts to buy, this post is for everyone else. The people who have to get gifts for the bride and groom, which can be an intimidating prospect. There are so many possibilities, people's tastes vary so much. On your registry, you will probably have a few high-dollar items that you've been coveting, which will be helpful around your home. One such item is likely to be a vacuum of some sort. We've already told you about the Roomba robotic vacuum, which cleans your floors while you sit on your bum.

A vacuum that does all the work for you is definitely a plus, but if you want the best of the best, you're going to have to push it around the room yourself, and it's going to be a Dyson. These vacuums are amazing, and they work so well that vacuuming isn't really the chore it normally can be with a lesser machine.

Dysons don't use bags, and they are certified as asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. The vacuums come with a 5-year warranty, and Dyson's website even has games -- what's not to love? (Yeah, we think it's weird, too... but also cool.)

When I think of all the poor plants I've killed over the years, I imagine a graveyard that stretches for miles and a huge sign that has my picture on it with a big red X. Yes, the good folks at Home Depot see me coming and hover over the ivy plants and ferns like they're protecting their children from a nuclear attack.

So, when I came across this wondrous invention, I jumped up and down for joy. No more dead plants! The creative people at Grobal have a self-watering pot that does all the work for you.

All you have to do is check the reservoir of water to make sure it's filled at a certain level and the Grobal's special watering system draws the appropriate nutrients to keep your plant or flower lush and thriving. At $24.95, it's a nice price for a simple wedding shower gift or even an Earth Day gift for your honey. No more black thumbs!

As the writers of Aisle Dash have shown, planning and hosting a green wedding really is as easy as planning a wedding that isn't quite as earth-friendly. Once you the details for your green wedding finalized, it will be time to shop for gifts for your wedding party that will show your friends -- and the environment -- how much you care.

Here are a few earth-friendly gifts to give your bridal party:

  • For the bridesmaids and groomsmen who are at one with nature, purchase a National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Annual Pass. For less than $100, this pass is valid for 12 months and can be used by the pass-holder and any other passengers in the car. Ninety percent of the purchase price will be returned to the federal land agencies to preserve the country's parks for years to come.
  • Purchase a subscription to The Green Guide -- National Geographic's consumer magazine that offers alternative products for the conscientious shopper.
  • For the music fans in your bridal party, pick up a solar iPod charger. For $29.99, your iPod-toting (or any other mp3-player) friend can re-charge anywhere the sun is shining.
  • Search for local and organic food in your area (or wherever your bridesmaids are located) at the Eat Well Guide -- then choose a local supermarket, restaurant or farmer's market to buy a gift card at.
  • Or, choose some organic coffee for the caffeine-lovers in your wedding party at Bean Trees.
You can't go wrong with any of these gifts -- your friendly (and earthy!) thoughtfulness will be deeply appreciated.
Recent rumors from Wall Street indicate that popular (but not popular enough) home furnishings retailer Linens 'n Things may file for bankruptcy as early as next week. The retailer has been struggling with debt and the current economic slowdown hasn't helped anyone in the sector. If you are considering where you register, you may want to try stores that are likely to remain in business.

Linens 'n Things' biggest competitor, Bed Bath and Beyond, has a similar inventory and a much stronger balance sheet, so it may be a better place for your registry. However, if Linens 'n Things does fold, maybe its stores will host giant going-out-of-business sales for you to take advantage of -- or the stores may just quietly close their doors. Either way, we'll keep an eye on the news for the next couple of weeks to see what the future holds for this chain.
For couples that love to cook, a Dutch oven is a wonderful gift. If you want the top of the line model, you'll want to get a Le Creuset. This premium cookware is ideal for casseroles and slow cooked dishes -- great for kitchen perfectionists.

Dutch ovens can go from the refrigerator to the stovetop, oven, or campfire, and retain both heat and moisture better than other cookware, so the meals you cook in your Dutch oven will have superior taste and texture.

The 9-quart oven pictured here is available at Williams-Sonoma for $290. Quality doesn't come cheap!

If you really don't need any more bed linens or kitchenware, you can always specify "no gifts, please" on your wedding invitations -- but you know people are going to bring gifts anyway. If you don't need or want anything for yourself, use your registry as an opportunity to give to those who are in need.

Changing The Present is a charitable gift website where you can create a registry of various donations to the causes of your choice. Gifts are divided into categories like disaster relief, global warming, cancer, and dozens more so that you can more easily select the causes that interest you.

What a wonderful way to make the happiest day of your life a great day for so many others, too.
